The program known as Chesapeake Utilities Sharing Program was created in an effort to help struggling customers with their utility as well as heating bills, if they have an exceptional crisis. The company as well as its non-profit partner organizations collect donations from the region in an effort to help families with no-other options available to them.
Any financial aid from the Sharing Program is very limited, as it does rely on contributions. All of the funds from the company and people from the community that donated to it will be focused strictly on vulnerable customers. This means that money can be given to those at risk such as senior citizens, the disabled, the sick, or families with children.
There are two main parts of the program. One is to donate, and more information is as follows. Chesapeake Utilities Sharing Program collects both one off and regular, monthly contributions from people and businesses in the community. Over the course of the year, hundreds of families will tend to contribute a portion of their hard earned income. Whether it is a couple dollars, or rounding up the current bill by a few cents through Operation Roundup, all of the money is used wisely.
Non-profits, such as Catholic Charities, in the state of Delaware service territory served by Chesapeake Utilities, as well as the company itself, are involved in spreading the word on the program. They also can tell people where to donate to it, and help qualified households apply for help.
Chesapeake Utilities Sharing Program is also an assistance program for paying bills, and a formal application process is in place by groups such as the Salvation Army. There is very limited, small dollar amounts of aid that can be used for paying some or all of the energy bills that are do. It can also help with winter heating costs, as that is very important to a senior citizen for keeping their home warm.

When seeking help, people need proof of income, residency in the Chesapeake Utilities service territory, and they need proof of identification as well. The application process is extensive and only small dollar amounts of assistance will be paid out to the qualified client. It is effective in helping a family keep their heat or electricity on for a short period of time while they apply for other, long term support.
Chesapeake Utilities Sharing Program is also combined with other resources. Since it does rely on donations from the public, it is not a solution in itself. Therefore the customer service representatives from the company will also be able to direct a client to LIHEAP or maybe the weatherization program. Those are some of the key services for long term help with utility bills.
Donations are always needed as part of Sharing Program to provide assistance as noted below. The funds will stay local, in the service territory. Then, all of this money is combined to help the less fortunate with their energy bills. For more information, dial 302-654-9295 or 302-674-1782.
