Columbia Gas HeatShare donation program

One of the main assistance programs for Columbia Gas customers in Maryland is HeatShare. The program is funded by company donations and contributions from their existing, caring customers. Both individuals and local businesses donate money to it, and all funding is then passed on to qualified customers for paying their utility and heating bills. It is really an option for low-income customers who have exhausted all other available energy bill assistance programs.

The HeatShare Fuel Fund provide short term, emergency energy grants and financial aid to Maryland customers. They can use this funding in order to for and offset the cost of their utilities, including winter heating service. All funding is limited as it relies strictly on donations from the community.

People have the opportunity to give back. Your donation will help someone that is less fortunate receive assistance in keeping their home warm. Many people that benefit are seniors, the disabled, or families with children. This is not a government subsidy so your contribution will be used to assist those households that use Columbia Gas but are facing a short term crisis.

Individuals can donate as much or as little as you want. It will be tax deductible, and all funds will be focused on helping only those that qualify. Donate on a monthly, recurring basis. Or a one time contribution is appreciated too.

In most cases, Columbia Gas will match the donations from people that live in Maryland. This will be done up to a certain dollar amount and this match allows the company, and your donation to make an even bigger impact in the community. As indicated, and as funding allows, Columbia Gas will match up to 50 cents for every $1 contributed. Together, these contributions from the customer as well as the company are designed to help struggling and qualified customers manage their energy costs. For those customers that do decide to donate, they will receive a statement of their total donation for the preceding year.

 

 

 

 

If you need assistance with your utilities, then note that Columbia Gas of Maryland's primary fuel fund program is HeatShare. As funding allows, this will help qualified customers with their utility bills. It will provide them with energy grants and this aid is offered to customers for use restoring service to terminated utility accounts, offsetting debts, or assisting with older, unpaid bills.

It is only offered as a last resort and is for those that are facing an unexpected crisis. There are many low income levels in place as well. The fund was designed for low-income customers who have exhausted all other available energy-assistance resources, including other government resources and charities.
