Duke Energy has partnered with local non-profits, charities, and other organizations throughout Kentucky to offer programs that assist people with paying utility bills. Some of the programs are also run by Duke Energy themselves, while some are administered by the agency they partner with.
The first option is known as WinterCare. This is a utility bill assistance program sponsored by Duke Energy in Kentucky. They program is administered local by community action agencies, and is was crated to assist those in need with paying for their heating and utility bills during the cold winter season in Kentucky.
If you apply and are found to be qualified, Duke Energy customers will receive a one-time cash grant / payment available November through March or until funds are depleted from the WinterCare program. Another resource that customers can look into is known as the Helping Hand. This is another utility assistance program available to eligible Duke Energy customers during the winter, and will help them pay utility bills during this period. This program, which is funded by donations from Duke Energy shareholders, local businesses, employees and customers lends a Helping Hand to customers who are least able to cope with winter electric bills, and the money can help them keep their service on.
Each and every year during the fall, the Duke Energy Helping Hand Program will provide financial assistance and grants to Duke Energy customers who meet certain low to moderate criteria. Weatherization and energy conserving programs are also offered. Duke Energy has partnered with People Working Cooperatively (PWC) to provide eligible customers with free home weatherization improvements and conservation to help customers lower their utility and energy bills and decrease energy usage.
