Donate or apply to Reno County Emergency Energy Fund

As noted, there are two main components to Reno County Emergency Energy Fund. They are (1) donations as well as (2) emergency financial help. The customer service team at Emergency Energy Fund can provide information on both of these aspects. Or customers can try a social service agency, such as community action.

While donations and financial help for energy bills are the main reasons for the program, the company will also give free conservation measures. There will be energy audits, applications to federal government weatherization services or even a program such as LIHEAP. Or additional light or electric bill help can be offered from payment plans. All of these may be offered at the same time as Reno County Emergency Energy Fund.

Cash assistance will not be given directly to the customer. Rather a credit is given to the customers account. This will help pay down any arrearage on the account. Or some of the assistance from Reno County Salvation Army can pay a future utility bill.

The amount of funds is limited. It is for solving a short term crisis. Or the assistance from the Reno County Emergency Energy Fund donation program may in effect provide the customer so time to get additional help from charities or LIHEAP (or another source). So the donation service is not a solution in itself.
