Franklin PUD Helping Hands was created as way for donors to help “neighbors” keep their lights, power, and electricity on. The program was created to provide one time, emergency utility bill assistance to a small number of customers who are in a crisis.
Any person or business could help people in need by making either a one time or recurring monthly contribution to Franklin PUD. The donation will be tax deductible, so the net impact to a donor is less than the total amount given. In addition, anyone who contributes will have confidence that 100% of that donation goes to help qualified customers, many of whom may be senior citizens, the disabled, families with children, or the ill.
The donation will be used directly for paying energy bills. However since it can be used to pay utilities, it has the side benefit of freeing up that customer’s income for paying other critical expenses such as food, medicine, or something else. Franklin PUD Helping Hands is an effective resource for anyone who is struggling with their short term needs.
As indicated, either a recurring amount can be donated each month, or the contribution can be one time only. The decision is made by each individual or business. Every dollar amount goes to help the less fortunate, and all funds are appreciated, no matter the size. The donation will make a difference by helping someone keep their lights or electric on for a short period of time. In addition, Franklin PUD will often match those contributions too. When contributing, both checks as well as cash can be used.

Get assistance – There are times in many people’s life in which they may struggle financially. This is when Franklin PUD Helping Hands may be able to assist as well as the Community Action Connections. It is different than some of the other energy bill assistance programs out there such as LIHEAP as Helping Hands relies only on donations from the community.
When faced with an illness, divorce, unexpected car repair, or some other issue that hit the family budget, do not risk getting the utilities disconnected or maybe heat turned off. Instead apply to Franklin PUD Helping Hands for some form of financial help. The funds, which are often given in the form of a credit, can be used to pay down the balance of an electric bill.
The additional funds from this donation program can help struggling customers from having to make a difficult decision between paying for utility bill or say buying food. As the additional financial aid from Franklin PUD Helping Hands will be available as a short-term crutch. This means, since the utility bill will be paid, that the household who is enrolled into the program will have a little breathing room for paying other bills.
It is also good to keep in mind that this donation program is not the only resource available for assistance. When dialing the customer service line at 1-800-638-7701 or Community Action Committee, applicants will not only learn about Franklin PUD, but they will also learn about other social services ranging from LIHEAP to weatherization for conserving energy. Or they can be referred to some other local non-profit for support. So many options are available.
