Arkansas Western Gas Financial Assistance

Arkansas Western Gas low income, qualified customers have several options available to help them with their utility bills. They may be able to receive some financial grants, energy saving improvements (such as weatherization) or general advice.

Disconnection prevention / moratoriums - Certain qualified low income customers are entitled to protection from a law that was passed in Arkansas several years ago. The law/rule, known as the Arkansas disconnection moratorium, provides low income customers with the right to keep their power and gas service on during the winter months. It in effect established a moratorium, or delay, from disconnection of natural gas service. Arkansas Western Gas fully participates in this program and abides by the law. It is in effect each year from November to March. The eligible customer will eventually need to pay any bills that were deferred during this time frame, and sign some forms and contracts. Other conditions will apply.

Get Heating and Summer bill assistance from Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - This federal government funded program helps pay the summer cooling bills or the winter heating bills of elderly, low-income and disabled families and customers. Call the local community action agency or Salvation Army in your town or county to learn how LIHEAP can help you pay your Arkansas Western Gas bill.

Arkansas Weatherization Assistance Program - This is another federal government funded and created program, and it provides funds and aid to assist people with conserve energy in their homes. So it in effects will help them save money on utility bills. It can help the low income, with an emphasis on elderly, families with children and also the handicapped. Cost effective measures provided as part of this program can include, but not be limited to, weather stripping, the replacement of broken windows and doors, caulking, installing insulation and other energy-saving measures, all of which are free to qualified Arkansas Western Gas customers.

Hearts Warming Homes - This is another Salvation Army support financial assistance program. The program can help Arkansas Western Gas customers pay their winter heating bills from November through March of each year. It provides financial energy assistance and cash grants that are based on a customers needs arising from an unexpected emergency or crisis, such as abandonment by the family head of household, job loss, family member ill or hospitalized, a customer who lives on a fixed income with no ability to work as in the case of the elderly or persons with disabilities, etc.
