Utility Bill Assistance

Intermountain Gas Company Project Warmth utility bill assistance

If a customer of Intermountain Gas Company has used up all their LIHEAP benefits for paying energy bills, or if they can't get help from any other charity in the region, then Project Warmth may be an option. It is a short term fix and it can help pay a portion of what may be due on an utility bill.

The company accepts donations, and also partners with various social service agencies (including community action agencies), in an effort to operate this program on an annual basis. The contributions to pay for this program come from many places. There are donations from the public, employees of Intermountain Gas Company, fund raisers held by churches, and many other sources. Executive management may also contribute to Project Warmth as well. The fact is that there are generous members of the community, and they all try to help the less fortunate keep their electricity on.

Donate to Intermountain Gas Company Project Warmth using a Monthly Round Up, one-time contribution, or even look into volunteering at a charity to help raise money. The fact is that any dollar amount is always appreciated. One-hundred percent of each and every contribution goes to the needy for assisting with their energy bills; no funds go to administrative costs. So if someone donates they are not paying for some administrator's salary or program advertising costs.

Round Up – This is when each monthly utility bill is “rounded up” to the next highest dollar amount, and the incremental difference is donated to Intermountain Gas Company Project Warmth. Mark this box on your next monthly bill.

One-Time – This is exactly as the name applies; write an extra check and clearly designate it as a contribution to the Project Warmth program.

Anyone with questions on how the service operates can dial Idaho Falls area (1-800-632-4813) or Soda Springs Idaho (208-547-4257). But they should feel confident that the funds given to Project Warmth can be very effective in helping someone keep their power on. The donations also stay local, with an impact in a certain street, neighborhood, or even region that the company supports.

Anyone in need, that is close to having their power turn off, can look into Intermountain Gas Company Project Warmth.  As noted this utility bill assistance program is for very low income customers that have used up their LIHEAP benefits as well as other sources of emergency funding. It is a last resort as it is a donation program. No one is entitled to assistance from this or any other program.

When applying, have proof of income, as it is income based. Also copies of LIHEAP letters (or denial of it), proof of medical needs, unemployment, or proof of whatever lease may be causing the crisis should be provided. Any energy bill help will only be given to applicants that satisfy all of the criteria in place. For more information, feel free to dial Soda Springs (208-547-4257) or Idaho Falls (1-800-632-4813).

If not qualified to this Project Warmth donation program, still feel free to call Intermountain Gas Company or a community action agency for other resources for electric or heating bills. As maybe a payment plan or some other solution can be arrived at. But each request for utility assistance is reviewed on a case by case basis.
