While very limited in scope and resources as it relies on donations, in a crisis the Kissimmee Utility Authority can help in an emergency. The program was created in an effort to assist qualified low income customers with their electric and utility bills when they are facing a crisis. In some cases, the small amount paid out may help the KUA customer prevent a shut off of their power.
The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is a voluntary service. Using contributions from customers, including private individuals and businesses, the funds can be used to assist low income customers that are facing an emergency. Money can be used to help them pay their utility bills from KUA.
The only reason this program exists is that it relies on donations. While it is voluntarily donated too, KUA is always asking people to reach out and contribute. The Good Neighbor Fund is designed so that customers who are able to, and that also want to assist others, can make voluntary one time or recurring contributions to the fund. Any amount can be donated, from a dollar to much more. It is all voluntary.
No matter the dollar amount, it can be thought of as a small gift that could really make a difference in the lives of seniors or low income families that are facing a temporary hardship in this time of economic uncertainty.
KUA will, in many cases, also match donations that are made. This makes your contribution even more impactful. Regardless of how someone donates, you contribution is tax-deductible. In addition, KUA will provide customers with a record of their donation the first of each year.
All donations and administration of the fund is done by the Osceola County Council on Aging. This local agency is in charge of administering all contributions and funds that are donated through the program.
Contributions to the Kissimmee Utility Authority fund can be made in several ways. People can contribute as a one time donation, or sign up for a recurring contribution. No matter what you choose, the exact amount of the donation you select on the pledge card will be added as a line item to your utility bill. An noted, any and all one-time contributions to the fund are also welcomed. People can even contribute by using their credit card.

Another popular option is the Good Neighbor Round Up service. This will be done monthly on your utility bills, and the small amount that the bill is rounded up to will be contributed to the Fund.
