Utility Bill Assistance

Lacey Utility Assistance Fund.

Up to $150 per year can be paid out for water or energy bills per the City of Lacey Utility Bill Assistance Program. Families in need, who qualify, can receive up to $75 two times per year. This is of course based on donation levels, need, as well as funding.

Most of the assistance is for utility – water bills. The applicant needs to of course be a customer of the city utilities and living in, or close to poverty. There are other criteria as well, such as if the applicant is an individual, their total income needs to be under $30,000.

Applications for assistance are processed by Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties (CAC). On the other hand, donations are collected directly by the City of Lacey either through one time donations or recurring payments.

There is an office of the Community Action Council in Lacey. Anyone who wants more information, or who wants to apply for a grant, can call on the non-profit. The main office is 3020 Willamette Drive NE Lacey, WA 98516. This phone number is (360) 438-1100.

Another great part is that Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston County can direct families to other services as well. There is LIHEAP for paying utility bills, water bill payment plans, free weatherization as well as conservation measures, and more. All of them can be on a one off basis or maybe combined with the City of Lacey Utility Assistance Fund.

In addition, the staff at the Community Action Council will work with the client to address the root cause of the hardship. Whether that is employment, lack of career skills, or another challenge, the goal is to offer mid to long term relief (in addition to the $75 payment for the utility bills), to get the client back on stable footing.

As far as donations to the Lacey Utility Assistance Fund, 100% of what is given goes to pay energy, water, or utility bills. There are no administrative costs. The main phone number for the customer support team is (360) 491-5616. There are also two places to send contributions, and they include 420 College Street SE, Lacey, WA 98503-1238 or the Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE, Lacey, WA.

Now there are two types of donations: both one off checks from individuals, groups or charities as well as recurring round up contributions. The round up donation can be started or stopped at any time – there is no obligation to give. As noted, 100% of the funds go to pay utility bills of the less fortunate.

Whether applying for financial help, or donating to the City of Lacey Utility Assistance Fund, there are two main points of contact. Call the city billing department, or community action above, for more details on the processes.
