Utility Bill Assistance

Assistance with bills from Narragansett Electric.

Narragansett Electric, which is now part of National Grid, has a limited amount of financial assistance programs for customers in Rhode Island. Among them include payment plans, a recurring monthly discount, the statewide Good Neighbor Energy Fund, as well as Appliance Management Program.

The Appliance Management Program, which is offered as a result of partnerships between Narragansett Electric as well as your local Community Action agency, can help you save money from appliances and other means. How it works is basically an Energy manager from your nearby community action agency will provide a customer of the utility company with an appliance analysis. This will let the customer know how much they might save on their utility bills, and it will also indicate how much each appliance costs to operate. As part of the Appliance Management Program, a qualified low income customer may be able to get ENERGY STAR appliances such as refrigerators and refrigerators, insulation and air sealing measures, water saving measures, as well as free energy efficient lighting.

Narragansett Electric/National Grid payment plans - The energy provider offers payment arrangements and various assistance plans to residential low to moderate income customers with unpaid utility bills. In order to establish a payment plan with the utility company, please call the Credit Department at 1-888-211-1313. After dialing the number and communicating your need, a representative will work with you to try to establish a fair payment plan to address the overdue balance on your account.

Discount rate - Narragansett Electric offers a low income discount rate. Certain low income and poverty customers may qualify. The total discount will amount to up to $9 per month on your utility bills.

National Grid of Rhode Island as well as Narragansett Electric are fully supportive of the Good Neighbor Energy Fund. This is available for all customers across the region, and it is a statewide cooperative effort that is offered between electric and gas companies as well as the local Salvation Army. The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander who needs assistance with paying any type of utility or energy bills.

The numbers to call to learn about these or any other assistance programs from Narragansett Electric/National Grid in Rhode Island are 1-888-211-1313. Or a customer can decide to call their local Community Action Agency that provides fuel assistance services and funds to pay utility bills.
