Utility Bill Assistance

Help in New Jersey

New Jersey Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo has announced that residents who have fallen behind on electric and utility bills because of a financial crisis or emergency can now visit his district office to apply for help. Those who need the assistance can visit his office and they may be able to receive help by applying for NJ SHARES assistance. This energy bill assistance program provides grants to help NJ families pay utility bills.

An individual or household under the NJ SHARES program can receive a one-time cash grant for natural gas of up to $700 and electricity of up to $300, for a maximum grant of up to $1,000 applied directly to the utility bill. This program is very effective as show by the fact that NJ SHARES clients have had an average of 92 percent of their utility bills paid within just three months following receipt of the grant.

DeAngelo want on to say that individuals and families who never thought they would need to rely on a helping hand or assistance program to pay their heating or utility bills now are facing that difficult reality. This program is vital assistance to families already struggling with the cold, and a help to those who are sorely needing lift during a time of great crisis or emergency.
