Pacific Power provide utility assistance from the HEAT program, which relies on donations from the larger Oregon community. This is one of the primary resources you can use in order to help your neighbors keep their heat and lights on. Pacific Power will also match any money you contribute to the Oregon HEAT program. Last year over 2000 low income households received help.
The cold winter or hot summer weather can greatly impact the most vulnerable households in Oregon and really across the nation. The Oregon HEAT program is administered by a nonprofit agency that administers emergency energy bill assistance funds. Aid is offered throughout Oregon and even in neighboring communities as well, with a focus on the winter and summer months.
In addition, Pacific Power will offer a 2 for 1 match to any money you donate. There is a cap in place. Pacific Power’s willingness to contribute a 2-for-1 match of funds donated from customers is a good example of its commitment to serving low income and at risk Oregonian households across the state. For example, $40 from you will result in $120 going to the non-profit Oregon HEAT program. This will be made up of your $40 and the company’s $80. The money helps people keep their lights and heat on.
While the economy is slowly improving, the 2-for-1 match from Pacific Power will help neighbors, including some near you, in a direct way. Customers who receive their utility bills in the mail will find an Oregon HEAT contribution envelope in the bill sent to them. You can donate by forwarding your contribution in the envelope. All contributions will be tax-deductible. This utility bill assistance program allows customers to donate any dollar amount that they wish, starting at $1 per month. So you can donate a dollar, five dollars, or as little or as much as you would like. Fixed donations will also be matched 2-for-1 by Pacific Power of Oregon. To apply for assistance or contribute dial 1-888-221-7070.
As noted above, all donations made are tax-deductible and are forwarded to Oregon HEAT. All of your generous funds that are donated will be used to assist families in need from the same county or city in which the donor resides. So if you live in Portland and donate, the money will be used to help local Portland Oregon families.
Oregon HEAT is statewide non-profit fund that was created to prevent disconnection of utility services during hot or cold weather by providing energy bill payment assistance to struggling and low income households in an emergency. Together they screen requests and applications for assistance from customers of West Oregon Electric Cooperative, Pacific Power, and PGE. Specialists also advocate access to energy resources for low-income Oregonians. They also offer a recovered heating oil program for the Pacific Power service territory. The non-profit phone number is 503-612-6300.
