Lite a Life is the name of a program available for Public Service Company of Oklahoma customers that relies on donations in an effort to help the less fortunate. The Salvation Army administers it, and contributions go to assist hundreds of families from the service territory. They may receive assistance and maybe prevent a disconnection.
When customers are out of other options and have no means to pay their bills, then Light A Life provides those who qualify with emergency funds to help pay those energy bills. The applicants need to have some type of unplanned financial crisis that is causing their hardship. This Public Service Company of Oklahoma resource is not a government benefit or charity, and is only for unusual circumstances.
Many fundraisers are held by businesses or charities in the community to help raise funds for Light A Life program. People can also donate on their monthly bills as well. Contributions all go to helping the less fortunate.
The Salvations Army processes applications across Oklahoma and disburses funds to the less fortunate and poor. The funds raised from the community or customers will be used all year to assist families facing emergencies or some crisis. Aid is targeted at those needing assistance with their utility bills. Public Service Company (PSO) will even generally match the funds donated.
The Salvation Army and created the Light A Life program over 20 years ago. It was intended to help Oklahoma families facing financial hardships who could not otherwise heat and/or cool their homes on their own. All funds and grants that are raised for the Light A Life program go directly to those in need and assist with utility bills. PSO covers the overhead expenses and underwrites the administrative costs of the program. So anyone who donates will be sure that 100% of that money goes to help the less fortunate. The Salvation Army runs it across the service region.
