Utility Bill Assistance

Questar Gas Utah Crisis Funds utility assistance

Questar Gas Crisis Funds is one of the programs available for paying utility bills. This is not a government resource but rather uses donations from the community, but the application parameters are the same as HEAT. There are funds that come from individuals, employees of Questar Gas in Utah, local fund raisers, and many other sources. All of this money is used by Catholic Community Services (who runs it) to provide financial aid to the vulnerable that have no other options available to them.

There is another benefit to contributing. This is the fact that the Trustees from the company will also often match the donations from the community. While this does not take place every year, there are many instances in which it will. This further increases the amount of help available to the needy. Contributions can also be tax deductible.

Using all of these funds (both donations and matching contributions), there may be hundreds of Questar Gas customers in Utah that can get help each year. There will not be cash given to the individual as part of Questar Gas, but rather a credit will be given on their current energy bill. It may be just enough to help them keep their electricity of heat on for a period of time.

Questar Gas donations and applications

When struggling, the phone number to apply at for utility bill help is below. This is not an emergency service but rather it may take weeks to apply and get approved. So no one should ever wait until they are out of options before they apply. Instead they should seek help early and often to account for these periods of time.

Questar Gas Crisis Funds will focus on the elderly, disabled, and sick. The hardship should be either (1) short term or (2) fill a need while waiting on benefits such as LIHEAP. So the funds will take care of a portion of the utility bill. But as noted, since the donations are limited, Crisis Funds is not a long term solution.

For those who are seeking to donate to Questar Gas Crisis Funds, that money can be contributed on a one-off basis or a monthly recurring process to Catholic Services. In either case the funds will be used wisely. As examples of this, (1) no money is used for administrative costs and (2) there is always a close review of customers applying. Any fraud in the program will not be tolerated.

Assistance is only for local members of the community. So for those people that donate, the funds will not go to some far off state but rather stay locally. This is done so that Questar Gas Crisis Fund operates as a neighbor helping neighbor service. As noted, only a portion of an emergency bill will be covered for your neighbor, so this is not an entitlement.
