Utility Bill Assistance

Rocky Mountain Power Lend a Hand utility bill donation program.

Donations from customers are used as part of the Rocky Mountain Power Lend a Hand program to assist low income families. The utility company works with non-profits such as the American Red Cross to provide assistance to struggling customers, with a focus on seniors and disabled.

Anyone can donate to the program. Hundreds of customers, local businesses, and other contribute. It is a great way to give back to the community and make a difference. People can donate either one time or by adding an amount to their monthly utility bill. Customers or employees of the company are urged to participate, and all funds raised are used to assist those that are less fortunate.

In many cases, Rocky Mountain Power will match the contributions. For example, in Utah they contribute $2 for every $1 donated by customers or employees. So this will make the program even more effective. This money will go directly to energy assistance programs in Utah.

Over the years, thousands of elderly or disabled residents have received utility bill assistance from Lend a Hand. In many cases, it was offered when people have needed it the most. Due to these results, many people and businesses have, and continue to be, very generous with their contributions.

The Utah American Red Cross administers the program on behalf of Rocky Mountain Power. They accept applications and provide funds to seniors that are facing a crisis. The program can serve as a critical safety net for low-income disabled and senior people in Utah. Over the years, this has been very successful in assisting those in need. Many people were actually able to keep their electric or heat on as a result of Lend a Hand.

Rocky Mountain Power, using the generous donations of customers and the American Red Cross have been able to provide financial help to many Utah residents in a financial crisis.  It is a way for customers to continue helping neighbors, and the money will not go to overhead costs.

Everything someone donates will be tax deductible as well. So there are either deductions or credits that people can take on their federal and state of Utah income taxes. Either contribute using a donation, contribute online, or add a fixed monthly donation to your monthly electric bill.

It you are facing financial hardships and need assistance with your electric bills, call Rocky Mountain Power at 888-221-7070. Note that funds are for seniors and the elderly. Lend a Hand is not the only option in Utah. The company has other resources available as well.
