In an effort to provide assistance for paying utility bills, and to provide individuals a method to give back to the community, Salt River Project created the SHARE program. This donation service helps hundreds of families each and every year. Many of those who benefit are either not qualified for LIHEAP, or maybe the assistance provided to them from that program has run out.
Not only can struggling customers apply to Salt River Project SHARE for utility bill help, but once they have regained stability they can give back to it by donating. In fact, many past beneficiaries have contributed money to it. Donations also come from the general public, employed of Salt River Project, management, and many other sources.
The program is different than some others in who it can benefit. One key difference is that it is not an entitlement. No one should county on getting energy bill assistance from it. SHARE is in fact a program of last resort, and it will only help a small number of people that are completely out of options. They also need to have exhausted every other program that may be available to them, whether LIHEP, weatherization, or other government aid.
Since donations are used to fund it, only a small dollar amount of assistance is provided to each client. There may be just enough money to keep the power on for a short period of time. It may be just enough to provide the family time to find other long term energy bill assistance. Or the donation from Salt River Project SHARE may allow them time to find a job, get over their hardship, or enter into a payment plan. Assistance is provided no matter what.
Donation or application process to Salt River
The process is somewhat similar in who to contact. The company works with local non-profit agencies as well as local social service groups. The customer service team can also be called at (602) 236-3000. One key differential is that anyone can donate. When it comes to applying to SHARE, this is only for people with an emergency that they did not cause.

Funds will target seniors, the sick, elderly, or disabled. In other words, there needs to be some special circumstance in order to benefit from the program. SHARE will not just help anyone pay their heating or energy bills.
As noted, a major difference when it comes to donations is that anyone can contribute. Members of the community can enroll into a Round Up service, which will increase their monthly utility bill to the next highest dollar amount. That incremental difference will go to provide assistance to the vulnerable for paying utility bills.
One time contributions can always be made too. Those can be sent in at anytime. Other sources of donations to Salt River Project SHARE include employees of the company. The Salvation Army may also have fund raisers. Anyone who contributes can apply for a tax break when filing their income taxes. All of this donated money is then matched by corporate funds from Salt River Project.
For more information on the program, call the number of (602) 236-3000. Since funding to Salt River Project SHARE comes and goes throughout the course of the year, anyone seeking assistance for paying their utility bills may be placed onto a waiting list as well.
