When all other options are not available, including charities or LIHEAP, then the Salt River Project (SRP) SHARE utility bill assistance program may be available. Using generous donations from the public and businesses, this is an emergency program that can help a qualified low to moderate income family keep their lights, power, heat, or energy on.
There are a few criteria that need to be met. They include:
-The customer needs to be lower income.
-More moderate income customers can get utility bill help if they have some form of unusual crisis, such as a medical emergency, illness, cancer, short term disability, or some other serious issue that they did not cause.
-Senior citizens living on a fixed income who could be at risk without power may receive utility bill help too from Salt River Project SHARE.
The types of utility bills that the program can pay are extensive. The donated money can be used to pay all or some of the following costs. They include the following.
-Light
-Electricity
-Gas
-Heating
-Propane
Really any source of power that the Salt River Project customer received can be covered by the SHARE program. It is therefore a general utility bill assistance program that in effect allows any type of expense to be paid. As the goal of all the donations is to help people keep their power on.

Applying and donating to SRP - Salt River Project SHARE
There are two main purposes of the program as noted. One is to help low income customers or those in a crisis pay their utility bills and two is to allow people to give back to the less fortunate by starting a tax free, charitable giving option. There are a few ways to enter into the program and to either apply or donate, and more details are below.
The first way to proceed is to call the utility company itself, and they can walk a customer through the application process. Or they can round up a donors monthly utility bill to the next highest amount, with the incremental amount going to the Salt River Project SHARE program.
Another way to proceed is to call a social service agency or local charity, including the Salvation Army. Many of them are partners with Salt River Project on processing applications to SHARE. They are also involved in collecting donations and ensuring all of the funds go to the most deserving people. Not only that, but a local charity (such as the Salvation Army) will often be aware of other sources of energy bill assistance, whether it is LIHEAP, weatherization, free box air conditioners or fan units, or something else.
No matter what a struggling customer needs, if they meet the income as well as other criteria in place, there may be some form of utility bill assistance offered. Whether it is Salt River Project SHARE, a payment plan, or government benefit like LIHEAP, or something else, there are options.
Either call (602) 236-3000 to apply, or dial that number to donate. If the customer does need help, also note all resources are first come and served, and when the Salt River Project SHARE donation program runs out of funds the applicant will need to wait for the next application window to open up.
