Customers that need assistance with paying their utility and energy bills may qualify for the Project Share program. Every year thousands of low income and struggling senior citizens, children, disabled, and maybe even your neighbors are left in the dark because their power has been disconnected. Generous donations from people like you, that are offered as part of Project Share, can make a difference to these Seattle City Light customers. This is a customer-supported emergency utility assistance fund and it can make the difference in someones life. Your contribution can help people keep their lights on and homes warm.
Your generous donation, which will be tax deductible, supports people facing a crisis and that are generally struggling. When you give any type of contribution and really give the gift of power and electricity, what you receive in return can be very powerful. It allows people to make a contribution and difference to society.
In some years the Seattle City Light Project Share fund distributes over one million dollars to thousands of customers. Any money you donate will be paid out in the form of a one-time grant and all assistance is used to pay their utility bills. Funds are one-time emergency assistance grants and they truly do make a huge difference in the lives of local families.
Project Share helps all sorts of households. A small donation can contribute to paying a winter heating or electricity bill. Money can be used to pay the bills of recent graduates that are looking for jobs, people facing a medical crisis, cancer patients, and senior citizens among others. Funds can support people who recently transitioned off of social services. Thousands of Seattle Light customers are thankful to Project Share and all that it offers them. Also keep in mind that this is not a subsidy program and the assistance is a one time grant, so you are not contributing your hard earned money to some government agency.

You can donate online. Or dial (206) 684-3000 for more information or to contribute over the phone. Your warm heart and generous donation means a warm home for someone in need.
Another way to contribute and that you can help is by simply "rounding up" your monthly utility bill payment to the next highest dollar amount. As just one example, if your bill is $63.36, make a payment of $64. So you will be donating 64 cents, and yes, even those amounts will make a difference. When you select the round up option on your account, the balance between your actual utility bill and the round up amount will be credited to Seattle City Light and the Project Share program.
On the other hand, if you would like to apply a number of conditions need to be met, including providing proof of the hardship and emergency. The program has many restrictions on how often someone can apply and limits the amount paid out. To learn more on Project Share, dial (206) 684-3000.
