The administration of the Gas Assistance Fund is done by the United Way of Greater Los Angeles working with So Cal Gas. Over the years this utility bill assistance program helped more than 200,000 SoCalGas customers pay their natural gas utility bills when they were faced with a hardship. Working with the United Way, SoCalGas collects donations from the community for the Gas Assistance Fund, as indicated above. Money is collected over the course of the year, and grants are paid out throughout the year or until the funds are depleted. Assistance is offered on a first come-serve basis.
