Donate to St. Petersburg utility assistance program or apply to it for financial help. The city of St. Petersburg created this program in partnership with local non-profit agencies to allow struggling customers the ability to keep their power, heat, and electricity on. Find more details below.
Contributions from this service are used by qualified customers, which includes the elderly, disabled, sick, people with a financial crisis, the vulnerable, single parents with kids, and a select few others. All of the money, or 100% of what is donated from the public, goes to pay energy bills. No money goes to pay St. Petersburg Florida UAP overhead costs.
Each and every application for energy bill assistance is closely reviewed. Applicants will need to submit proof of income, residency, SSN, and details on all household members. There will be a review of past payment practices as well, as the funding is limited. This means that only those with a history of paying their utility bills on time, and who have not wasted power/electricity in the past, are more likely to get help.
Applying or donating to St. Petersburg
The program has 2 ways to either get help and multiple ways to donate as well. To apply for financial assistance for utility bills, customers can dial the customer support team at 727-893-7341. They will go over the terms and conditions of the program, help the apply, and ensure that any funds or credits (when issued) or applied to the correct utility bill. They can also discuss other options the customer will have, such as a payment plan.
Another way to apply for energy bill assistance is to call on a local social service agency. One of them will be the Salvation Army and another is community action. These two non-profits can not only help someone apply to St. Petersburg Florida, but they can also review applications for other forms of charitable or government assistance. Some of those primary resources are LIHEAP, weatherization, and others. All of them can be used at the same time for even more help.

Some things to keep in mind. 100% of the funds donated go to the St. Petersburg Florida program and helping less fortunate customers pay their utility and electric bills. There are income tax benefits from the service and the donations can be stopped or started at any time; everything is voluntary.
