Help and assistance with bills from Chesapeake Utility.

Call Chesapeake Utility and ask about one or more of the following assistance programs. The phone number to dial is below.

Get a grant from the Chesapeake Utility Sharing Program. This is partly funded by donations from customers and businesses. The so called Sharing Program may be able to help customers who may need financial assistance and money to help pay their monthly heating and utility bills. While many people may be able to get support from the program, it is really targeted at those who are low income. Most often those who live on a fixed income as well as the elderly and disabled get help from the program. It is a grant program, and most of the funds are distributed during the cold Delaware winter months. Read more.

Payment Plan - A customer service representative from Chesapeake Utility can set up customers on this type of plan. Assistance is targeted at people who are having difficulty in paying their monthly utility or gas bills. This plan can help you catch up on past unpaid bills, and attempt to get you on track for future expenses.

Budget Payment Plan. This option in effect will spread out your winter heating bills if you are a residential customer of Delmarva Peninsula. What happens is that a customers monthly payments and amount of their bill will be based on the customers past energy usage and consumption history. The utility company may in effect be able to adjust the customers payment amount during the heating season. This allows a customer to better budget their expenses and pay a consistent amount on their bills each and ever month.

LIHEAP - Of course Chesapeake Utility and Delmarva Peninsula fully support the federal government funded low income energy assistance program. There are two main components of this program. One offers a crisis grant, which can provide funds to prevent a disconnection. The other offers what is more ongoing funds to pay a regular monthly utility/energy bill. Both target the low income, elderly, and working poor.
